How to make crispy chickpeas
If you want to use store-bought crispy chickpeas, look in the health food snack aisle and find a neutral-flavored chickpea. Biena chickpea sandwiches are great, or you can make your own with Giusto’s recipe:
- Open a 16-ounce can of chickpeas and drain well.
- Fry in a pot with vegetable oil at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 7-8 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
- Carefully drain on a paper towel and season with salt and a pinch of ground cumin.
- Change the paper towel 2-3 times to remove as much oil as possible and store in an airtight container until ready to use.
How long do crispy chickpeas last?
These last up to 2 days in an airtight container.
What to serve with lettuce
If you’re healthy, hummus and crudités would work, or any gluten-free crackers and dips. But, if you want some comfort food with your lettuce wraps, there’s always a combination of savory snacks like sweet potato fries, crispy onion strips, or air fryer tots.
